Hello Parents,
As part of our continued learning for Kindergarten as we face Covid-19 pandemic and move to an e-Learning model, I will be posting Literacy links, ideas and lessons as well as ideas for purposeful play that you can engage with your child during your time at home. The government has recommended approximately 5 hours of learning each week, however, at this age that learning will occur naturally through play. Kindergarten is a carefully planned program of unstructured and structured learning experiences that help each child to develop physically, socially, emotionally, culturally, and intellectually. Kindergarten focuses on developing the child’s ability to understand and use language. At this age, language is used to reinforce their experiences by speaking and listening. I would like to emphasize that as with our school based kindergarten program, it is most important to connect with your child throughout the day while doing activities that are play based. This means, do the simple things like take a walk and talk about what you see, build a lego tower together, enjoy a cup of hot chocolate together while you chat about your child's interests etc. Kindergarten is all about connection, collaboration and playing; I am confident that as parents, you will be successful in providing a fun, nurturing education over the next few months for your child(ren).
