Hey Everyone.
What beautiful weather we have had to start our week. With the spring weather popping out, we are going to explore some spring themes! The story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" will be the core of this weeks activities! Please see Literacy, Purposeful Play, and Stories tabs for this weeks activities. Today we will have our group zoom meetings, I am hopeful they will go well. I also recognize this is a busy time of year for many families, you have my full support and encouragement for your child's at home learning in collaboration with life skill learning! :) Sending all the positive vibes and big hugs to your littles. I miss them! Happy Easter everyone! I hope you found a way to connect to your loved ones this past weekend. This week you will receive your first Kindergarten Package!! This package is planned to be delivered in small bits over the next 4 weeks, please remember that in kindergarten, we typically work at the tables for 10-15 minutes. Then their little bodies and brains need to MOVE or engage in a play based learning activity :) The package should be very well explained and easy to understand, if you have any questions at all, please send me a message! I love hearing from you guys and getting pictures of the kids. This week I have added a section to this blog: in the top right corner, you will now see a tab labelled "Stories". As part of our learning moving forward, we will have Mrs. Shackleton and Mrs. Weiler reading stories for the kids to watch! Please check them out. There will be new ones posted often. Finally, I will be reaching out to you this week to set up a Zoom chat for next week. These meetings will be in student groups of 5-10 students, where they can see and talk to their friends, and each student will have the chance to share with us about their past month of being at home. It requires a microphone and camera and can be done on your phone or computer. Please prepare your child prior to the meeting about some ideas of what to share/say, and sit with your child to help them navigate the controls. More info to come, but the meetings will be on April 21 and 23. If you can not make it work, just let me know and we can work something else out! Check out the Literacy and Purposeful Play for this weeks learning. Missing you and your littles! Chat soon -Mrs. Robinson Hey Everyone,
I hope this new week finds you in good health and we have a sunny week to enjoy ahead! Thank you for taking the time to connect with me last week. I loved being able to talk to each of you and your children. I am missing them! As mentioned in our phone conversations, the key points I want you to take away from our kindergarten online learning, are these: 1. Playing is how children learn- do the fun stuff, I always want you to choose playing with your child over the academic work I send. 2. Academically, if a child enters grade one, with the ability to identify all 26 letters and their sounds as well as numbers 1-20 (representing and identifying) they will be ready! As an added bonus, (if we were in class) we would be working to know some sight words and how to blend/read simple words together (nap, cat, red- these are called cvc words). I will post resources for you to do all these things with your child. These are what we call the "big rocks" for academics in Kindergarten 3. Moving forward, I will call/facetime you and your child every two weeks to make contact and stay connected. Beyond that, I encourage you to reach out with questions, videos, pictures about your child at anytime. I am available on remind and email Monday-Thursday all day! 4. I will post our Kindergarten online learning every week on Monday or Tuesday for you to do with them throughout the week! Please head over to the Literacy and Purposeful Play tabs for this weeks learning! |
