June 9 and 11, 2020
We had such a hard end to our year, we want to be signing off in such a different manner but here we are. From the bottom of our hearts, we will miss these sweet kiddos. We can sit for hours talking about all the magical things about each of them, and them as a group. I want to thank all of the parents for working so hard at home throughout the year to support your children's learning and development, but especially for taking on the huge role you had these past few months- you have absolutely nailed it!! We hope that you can tell each of your children how much we have missed them, thought about them, and loved them through this school year. We wish each of them the very best in the fall when school returns and that they have a summer full of adventure, joy and laughter. Love Mrs. Robinson, Mrs. Weiler, and Mrs. Shackelton.

Hey Everyone! I missed some of you on our Zoom call today, thank you those who were able to join. As the year tapers off, I am really missing all your little ones, they are full of sweetness and positive energy. Staying connected to them in these past few months has been so uplifting for me. I will post content under literacy, play and stories today for the kids to watch and do. Please send me a picture or video of your child's work this week- this is the last week that we will need to do this, for the tracking I have been doing for year end! Remember to plan to come by the school on June 23 for portfolio/student gift and item/report card pick up. More info for times etc will be given out soon. Stay healthy and safe. Have fun this week everyone. Hey everyone. If you didn't look at the post from last week, check it out. It has some important year end information, as does the calendar tab. The break down of the next few weeks as we wrap up our very strange end to kindergarten is this: June 2: last zoom call with group 9:30am. June 9: last blog post with academic content June 16: individual calls to say goodbye June 23: in school pick up: portfolios/report cards/ student items/gift from me to your child. Should any of this change I will let you know! Thanks for joining in on our Zoom calls lately and a giant shout out to all the parents who have worked at home with their kids on the academic and play based content, shared pictures when asked, shared with me about all the fun farm-life things the kids are participating in. I love hearing your stories and getting your feedback. Enjoy the sunshine! (2 stories under stories and 2 activities posted under literacy for this week). Hello Everyone!
This week I have a few activities and a few reminders for all of your Kindergarten students. 1. If you, at any point are looking for resources for a particular skill, or have questions or concerns about something please reach out to me. I am trying very hard to keep a balance of giving your kids some schoolwork to do at home, without overwhelming you during seeding, at home quarantine, nice weather that kids would like to enjoy etc. I very much appreciate all of you who continue to do the activities, send pictures of the kids, review the stories and videos from previous weeks and work on the at home packages that I delivered weeks ago. Thank you so much. I miss your kiddos so so much each day. 2. The academic expectation for students who leave kindergarten and enter Grade 1 in a typical year is that they can recognize and represent numbers 1-20, they can identify each upper and lower case letter and tell which sound it makes and they can understand and discuss stories that are read to them. These skills should be practiced frequently now and through the summer. They can be practiced in so many ways, if you feel you need ideas for hands on learning please ask. 3. For this week and the next 3 weeks, I will post one alphabet/sound activity and one number activity. Please take a picture or video of you child doing each/completed each and EMAIL it to me at [email protected]. I need this content to help me to report on your child's learning during distance learning due to COVID-19. Hey Parents,
As the year winds down, I am so thankful for you as parents who have taken on teaching your children at home with such grace and ambition. I am amazed each day at the experiences you are providing for them. Last week we did story sharing. below is a list of the stories shared. :) On that note, if you wish to order from scholastic at all for the remainder of the year, please let me know. The Very Hungry Caterpillar, Smelly Socks, Scooby Doo, Oscar the Octopus, When I Grow Up, No David, The Digger and the Flower, There was an old lady who swallowed a moose, Pinkalicious Slumber Party, The Very Cranky Bear, Just Me and My Mom Little Critter.
Hey Everyone.
What beautiful weather we have had to start our week. With the spring weather popping out, we are going to explore some spring themes! The story "The Very Hungry Caterpillar" will be the core of this weeks activities! Please see Literacy, Purposeful Play, and Stories tabs for this weeks activities. Today we will have our group zoom meetings, I am hopeful they will go well. I also recognize this is a busy time of year for many families, you have my full support and encouragement for your child's at home learning in collaboration with life skill learning! :) Sending all the positive vibes and big hugs to your littles. I miss them! Happy Easter everyone! I hope you found a way to connect to your loved ones this past weekend. This week you will receive your first Kindergarten Package!! This package is planned to be delivered in small bits over the next 4 weeks, please remember that in kindergarten, we typically work at the tables for 10-15 minutes. Then their little bodies and brains need to MOVE or engage in a play based learning activity :) The package should be very well explained and easy to understand, if you have any questions at all, please send me a message! I love hearing from you guys and getting pictures of the kids. This week I have added a section to this blog: in the top right corner, you will now see a tab labelled "Stories". As part of our learning moving forward, we will have Mrs. Shackleton and Mrs. Weiler reading stories for the kids to watch! Please check them out. There will be new ones posted often. Finally, I will be reaching out to you this week to set up a Zoom chat for next week. These meetings will be in student groups of 5-10 students, where they can see and talk to their friends, and each student will have the chance to share with us about their past month of being at home. It requires a microphone and camera and can be done on your phone or computer. Please prepare your child prior to the meeting about some ideas of what to share/say, and sit with your child to help them navigate the controls. More info to come, but the meetings will be on April 21 and 23. If you can not make it work, just let me know and we can work something else out! Check out the Literacy and Purposeful Play for this weeks learning. Missing you and your littles! Chat soon -Mrs. Robinson |
